SHEECOM GROUP Eco-Tourism Development Plan: Transforming Lojing, Kelantan into a Sustainable Highland Retreat

SHEECOM GROUP SDN BHD is spearheading an innovative eco-tourism development in Mukim Hendrop, Jajahan Kecil, Lojing, Kelantan Darul Naim. Designed to mirror the appeal of renowned highland destinations like Cameron Highlands, this comprehensive project aims to reposition Lojing as a premier tourist destination by integrating natural beauty, cultural heritage, and sustainable design.

Project Objectives

The primary goal of this eco-tourism project is to unlock the potential of Lojing’s highlands. The plan supports the state government’s initiative to develop highland areas and attract both domestic and international visitors. By creating a unique itinerary and an all-encompassing tourist experience, the project also offers a strategic alternative to the overcrowded attractions found in established highland resorts.

Project Scope and Planning Zones

The development spans several lots (PT 44, PT 101, PT 102, and PT 156) and is divided into three distinct planning zones, each tailored to offer diverse experiences and facilities:

Planning Zone 1
This zone serves as the vibrant entry point and includes:

  • A welcoming gateway entrance, ample parking, and a car park
  • On-site amenities such as a restaurant/café, mini-market, public toilets, and a registration area
  • Designated zones for photography, recreation, and relaxation
  • Unique features like a nursery selling diverse plants, a frozen processing plant for durian, a tea production area, and a large-scale “Fruit Picking” orchard—a pioneering concept in Malaysia’s cool highland climate
  • Attractions including the Forest Dome, Forest Café, Infiniti Swing, and an observation area for sunrise and stargazing

Planning Zone 2
Focused on cultural and leisure experiences, this zone offers:

  • Additional parking and a beautifully landscaped ornamental garden
  • A grape orchard designed for “Fruit Picking” experiences
  • Homestay accommodations that provide an immersive cultural stay
  • A gallery showcasing sculptures and a designated rest area
  • A cultural village for the Orang Asli community, where traditional performances and home visits foster an authentic local experience

Planning Zone 3
This area is dedicated to outdoor recreation and nature immersion:

A unique homestay concept called “House Tree” and a suspension bridge that enhances the visitor experience by connecting various eco-attractions

A diverse fruit orchard featuring tropical produce such as dragon fruit, passion fruit, papaya, and guava

An observatory deck for panoramic views and a mini zoo for domestic animal encounters

Landscape, Activities, and Sustainability

The project is further enriched with thoughtfully designed landscapes, including scenic roadways along riverbanks, eco corridors, and areas planted with willow trees. Visitors can engage in a wide range of activities such as farm tours, animal feeding, ATV rides, cycling, and hiking—each designed to immerse them in the highland’s natural charm.

Sustainability is a core pillar of the development. Innovative elements such as a floating island wildlife habitat, a living machine for sewage management, climate tiles, and the use of recycled materials underline the project’s commitment to renewable energy and environmental responsibility. Additionally, systems like a vortex turbine renewable energy system and rainwater harvesting further enhance the eco-friendly nature of the plan.

Investment and Collaborations

The total estimated development cost is approximately RM86.37 million, with investments allocated across the three planning zones:

  • Zone 1: RM36.46 million
  • Zone 2: RM19.25 million
  • Zone 3: RM30.66 million

This ambitious project is underpinned by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Guangdong Shengwei Industrial Co. Ltd and SHEECOM GROUP SDN BHD. With expert guidance from renowned project consultants—including SHAH Architect, Persada Insan Consult Sdn Bhd, HAH Associates, Stratascape Design, DZI Consult, and Megaukur Consult Sdn Bhd—the development is poised for high-quality design and execution.
